Struggling to choose between Hot Stone and Swedish massage? Both serve relaxation and pain relief, but they address different needs. Here’s how to pick the right therapy for you.
Swedish Massage
A classical full-body treatment using five core techniques: effleurage, petrissage, friction, tapotement, and vibration. Therapists apply moderate pressure with oil, in sessions of 60–90 minutes. It’s perfect for beginners, stress relief, and improving flexibility without overwhelming pressure.
Hot Stone Massage
This technique places heated basalt stones on key points and uses them for gliding strokes alongside traditional hands-on work. Rooted in ancient traditions, sessions run 75–90 minutes and excel at deep muscle relaxation, reducing inflammation, and enhancing circulation through heat.
Which Should You Choose?
Choose Swedish for a lighter touch, sensitive skin, or quick post-workout recovery. Choose Hot Stone for deep-seated tension, winter warmth, or a luxurious spa experience. Note that Hot Stone isn’t recommended during pregnancy or for those with heat sensitivity.
Why Not Both?
Many of our clients alternate with the seasons. Talk to our therapists and we’ll tailor the perfect session for your body.
